Cirque du Security© (How to be the Ringmaster)

The techies get all the dates, and is that the only reason they do so well?

What certification is best for you? You really need to talk with the management, sales, and finance people, and we’ll tell you why. The bottom line is there exists a long-term success strategy in this career field. The formula isn’t secret and you will discover it during this session.

We will review most, if not all, of the security certifications out there. Those certifications are a small part of the investments that you need to make over the course of your career. Technical proficiency along with polished social skills (yes, you really need those) each allow you to work on two types of networks, ip and people.

Questions you should bring along:

  1. Do I need to know how to code?
  2. How much networking/sysadmin/Linux/Windows/etc experience do I need?
  3. I’m not technical, but I still want to know about security. What’s out there for me?
  4. I am very technical, I know what I’m doing why do I need to change?
  5. Are most cyber security professionals pentesters?
  6. What about clearances?
  7. Do I need a college degree?
