SDR can be used to accomplish a many varied thing in the wireless world, from plotting air traffic in realtime, to contacting old NASA space probes, and reverse engineering restaurant pager protocols. In this talk I’ll review some interesting and unusual radio systems, and show how you can interact with them using open source software and cheap hardware. Of particular interest is security: wireless systems (consumer, corporate, government, amateur) are widely deployed and often vulnerable.
Some of the areas to be covered include: decoding existing, and creating your own, First Person View video from drones, radio spectrum monitoring and signal detection, visualising multipath propagation using digital TV transmissions, and vehicular proximity smart keys.
