There is currently a shortage of cybersecurity professionals both worldwide and in the US. This presentation will discuss an after school program for high school students to explore cybersecurity topics and careers while earning college credit for an introductory cybersecurity course. The presentation will discuss the motivation for the after school program, the cybersecurity topics in the course, and some of the hands-on activities that illustrate how the topics can be applied. A website with links to an online repository of program materials will be shared with the audience. This work effort is the result of the NSF funded grant Improving the Pipeline: After-School Model for Preparing Information Assurance and Cyber Defense Professionals (Grant No. 1623525).
