The author received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, and spent 12 years in pharmaceutical research and development (the legal kind!) before being seduced to the dark side – IT. Over the next 10 years, his career sank progressively further into the area of IT security. He assisted his employer with its downsizing efforts in 2007 by taking early retirement. Currently he corrupts the youth of America as an assistant professor of Computer Information Technology at Purdue University Calumet campus, teaching classes in networking and security.
