While at a client follow up engagement, we noticed the RFID badge scanners had been updated. We asked our client about this, and they knew nothing about it. Just that they get in everyday when they scan their badges. We immediately asked if we could create a physical device to place over the card readers if they didn’t log the cards or interfere with the readers, they were game! What happened during that small test turned into a psychological experiment we’ve been able to get our other clients roped into. This talk is not about easy conquest or pointing fingers at users, to be fair that’s in here; the goal became to improve upon not only the technology but also the people and process.
