Things Being a New Parent of Twins Teaches You About Security

DerbyCon 4.0 - Family Rootz

Time: 16:00 - 16:50
Location: Track 1

Being a new parent of twins has taught me a great deal about many new aspects of life. Over the last 11 months, helping to raise twins has shown many unexpected parallels to life in Information Security and many of the lessons from parenting cross over into the security profession. From preparedness, to error-handling, issue detection and incident response – you may be surprised at the number of concepts that apply to both sides of our lives as parents. In this session, as a slight departure from the conventional security conference talk, I’ll lay out some of the wisdom the last 11 months of my twins’ lives has etched into my conscious – and with a dash of humor I’ll relate it to your day job in enterprise security.
